How To Create Device Triggered Scenes In Your Z-Box Hub
print icon

Build powerful automations based on device triggers where one or multiple connected devices trigger an action in your smart home.

Before you start building a scene, note that there are 2 types of Device elements in the scene menu:

  1. Single: can be used as a trigger, condition, or action
  2. Group: can only be used as an action in your scene

Triggers activate the scenes after the system checks any other conditions and triggers for your scene, if present.

Conditions do not activate the scene alone but they have to be met before the ‘do the following’ action gets executed.

The Z-Box Hub uses the basic logical designations to help you build advanced automations and rules. Here is what they mean:

== EQUALS
!= DOES NOT EQUAL
< LESS THAN
<= LESS OR EQUAL
> GREATER THAN
>= GREATER OR EQUAL

How to create a device triggered scene

1. From the sidebar navigation menu of the Z-Box web interface, go to Settings by clicking on the gear icon.

2. Click on Scenes.

3. Click on Add Scene.

4. Select Block Scene.

5. Provide the basic scene information (name, room, category, etc) and click Save.

6. Now you are ready to create your scene using building blocks. For device-triggered scenes click on Device on the trigger/action menu and grab and drop any of the available blocks to the Triggers and Condition section of the scene-building area.

7. Once you specify the trigger and conditions, you will have to specify the action(s). To do so grab and drop other available blocks such as Device or Notification to the Action section.

8. Click Save to save your scene.
